A pair of Regency mahogany and ebonized hall chairs attributable to Banting & France. C1815.
The backs of these chairs are identical to a set of six hall chairs supplied by Banting, France & Co of London, to Lord Hervey the 5th Earl of Bristol , for Ickworth House in Suffolk.
The firm of Banting & France we're Royal cabinet makers and held warrants in the reigns of Geo III, Geo IV, William IV and Queen Victorian.
An identical pair of chairs were recently sold by Peacock's finest of London .
